Adults are not growing patients, therefore there are some limitations and differences in the diagnosis and treatment planning of their cases. More often than not extraction of two to four bicuspids becomes necessary to treat their cases ideally. Also the advantages of jaw surgeries may be a consideration. Otherwise, the treatment time is only about six months longer, if that, than that of younger patients. But because they are much more motivated, their treatment becomes more of a joint effort and more fun to complete. The correction of severe overbites can be more challenging as well, as well as closing major spaces...these two elements lengthens the treatment time because bone growth is much slower. Just have more patience and an ideal result will be forthcoming.
